Participants get to help plant several new fruit trees while receiving instruction on proper planting and pruning methods, as well as information about specific pruning requirements for different types of fruit trees. Participants will have the opportunity to help prune trees at the site.
WHEN: Saturday, April 19th at 9:00 am until noon. *** Registration starts at 8:30am, walk over the hill at 8:45 am. ***
WHERE: Meet at PCEI at 1040 Rodeo Drive and walk to the orchard site (Gail and Mark DeSantis property north of PCEI). The young orchard on the DeSantis property has a variety of semi-dwarf trees.
COST: Free for PCEI members, $5 for non-members.
WHAT TO BRING: Participants should bring work gloves and any pruning tools they would like to use, such as bypass pruners or loppers, pole pruners, and/or pruning saws. No chain saws, please.
INSTRUCTOR: Roger Blanchard is an ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist and ISA Board Certified Master Arborist with over 35 years of experience planting and pruning fruit trees in the Pacific Northwest.
