Program Description
The goal of the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute’s (PCEI) Adopt-A-Stream programs is to inspire people to become stewards of their watershed. Stream segments are delineated and adopted by local community and student groups. These stream stewards are responsible for caring for their adopted segment. The name of the steward is displayed on the sign similar to the Adopt-A-Street and Adopt-A-Highway programs.
Community Clean-Up Events
PCEI organizes two stream clean-up projects annually: one in Pullman, Washington and the other in Moscow, Idaho. These events are designed to promote community involvement in stream health and restoration. These are open to the community and are not required as part of the Adopt-A-Stream program, although Stream Stewards are invited and encouraged to participate in these events.
