Science After Hours: An Evening of Entomology

After a brief hiatus, PCEI’s Science After Hours is BACK for fall 2015!

This season brings a ton of rock star presentations from Palouse researchers, students, and community members.

Our October 1st event will focus on local researches and community members who work with insects– hence the title of the event:
An Evening of Entomology.

Kicking us off is the dynamic aphid duo, Jake Asplund and Robert Orpet from WSU. Describing the aphid as “an amazing animal whose adaptations make them an adversary worthy of study,” these two may change the way you look at these garden pests.

Amy Worthington, a post-doctoral researcher at WSU, will expound upon the love lives of crickets. In particular, her research takes a closer look at the costs and benefits of the mating habits of female crickets.

Finally, Darla and Bob will fill us in on The Palouse Beekeeper’s Association, a local community group working some of our Palouse insect neighbors. How can you get involved?
