Overview
The South Fork Clearwater River is located in Idaho County in central Idaho. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality in cooperation with local stakeholders developed the South Fork Clearwater River Total Maximum Daily Load in order to assess the water quality in the watershed. The assessment also included key tributaries that were know to be contributing non-point source pollutants. PCEI restoration projects were designed as a result of the TMDL assessment to help reduce pollutants loads in the watershed. PCEI is working with private landowners and the Idaho Soil and Water Conservation Commission to re-slope and stabilize eroding banks, install riparian fencing, install hardened stream crossings and create wetlands to help filter overland flows.
