“connecting people, place and community”
Join us for our free family event: Watershed Festival at Rose Creek Nature Preserve on Saturday, April 29th from 11am-1pm! We’ll have lots of fun stations, so come ready to explore. The Rose Creek Nature Preserve is located 7.5 miles northwest of Pullman. Written directions can be found HERE, or follow Google Maps. We’re grateful that it looks like the weather will be beautiful! ☀️
💧 Macro invertebrate Investigation: Take a close look at the tiny creatures that live in Rose Creek, and learn how macro invertebrates are an indicator of water quality.
💧 Willow planting along the creek: Help support Rose Creek by planting willow cuttings along the banks.
💧 The Wonders of Seeds: Mary and Joe Hein are the caretakers at the Rose Creek Nature Preserve, and owners of Rose Creek Seed, cultivating native seeds of the Palouse prairie. Along with these experts, look at native seeds through microscopes and see how seeds turn to seedlings, and can revegetate our landscapes.
💧 Recycling Relay and Timeline: Explore and experience how recycling can keep our local environments clean and healthy. Remember to reduce-reuse-recycle!
💧 Beavers as nature’s engineers: Learn fun beaver facts and use your touch sense to learn more about beavers and see how they are nature’s amazing engineers.
💧 And more! While you’re there, take a walk through the beautiful Rose Creek Nature Preserve.
Bring your family and friends, and we’ll see you then!
