Bird Walk at Rose Creek Nature Preserve

November 7, 2020 @ 8:00 am to 9:30 am

**Space is limited so please register for the event online at surveymonkey.com/r/LG9BVFD.**

Join us at Rose Creek Nature Preserve, owned and managed by the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute, for a guided birding walk on November 7, 8:00am-9:30am.

Rose Creek offers a diverse combination of habitats in a small area including rare Palouse prairie, thickets around the creek, and patches of mature forests. We will be among the first to take advantage of the new bridge that spans the creek to easily access each section of the property.

During the leisurely walk we will look for beautiful and interesting winter resident species like golden-crowned kinglet, varied thrush, mountain chickadee and spotted towhee. We will be on the lookout for winter wanderers like red crossbill and bohemian waxwing as well as any other wildlife that presents itself.

No prior birding experience is needed but binoculars are encouraged. Come prepared to walk approximately one mile over the course of an hour or two on mostly flat trails with some short moderate up-and-down-hill sections.

For those who are interested, an optional virtual orientation will be offered to share some brief history, details about Rose Creek as a birding spot and a tutorial on using eBird as a birding and citizen science tool.
