Master Naturalist Program

The Idaho Master Naturalist Program aims to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to actively work toward stewardship of Idaho’s natural environment.

PCEI’s 2025 Master Naturalist program, in partnership with Idaho Fish and Game, is completed. Please check back for information about our spring 2026 program! Email info@pcei.org to find out more or to register for the program.

Visit Idaho Fish and Game’s website to learn more about what a master naturalist program entails, or check out the short introduction video.

Certification details

Participants will complete 40 hours of conservation education and 40 hours of volunteer service in a given year in order to complete the program and receive certification. In order to maintain certification if desired, 8 hours of education and 40 hours of volunteer service are needed each subsequent year.

Our major offerings are outlined below. If one or more of the classes doesn’t work with your schedule, let us know! We’ll work with you to customize your education and volunteer experience based on individual need and time availability. Specific class topics and teachers will be shared at the first class.

We’ll cover topics such as:

  • Pollinators
  • Insects
  • Water quality
  • Orchards
  • Native trees
  • Fish
  • Dams and watersheds
  • Birds
  • Wildlife

Program Cost: $150 + one-time Idaho Fish and Game enrollment fee of $20 (total: $170). All proceeds directly benefit PCEI’s Idaho Master Naturalist program series. Included in enrollment, you’ll receive a nature journal, handouts/guides, the option of completing an IdaH20 master water certification, and more!
