The Pollinator Project

A bee on a blanket flower (Gaillardia) at the PCEI Nature Center

A busy bee collects honey and pollen from a blanket flower (Gaillardia) at the PCEI Nature Center.

The Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute is cross-pollinating with local students, artists and businesses to bring to you a multi-phase project to raise awareness about pollinator health in our communities and to enhance the PCEI Nature Center. These phases include:

  • “Open Spaces for Urban Pollinators” campaign to raise awareness about the pollinator crisis and support pollinator habitat at the PCEI Nature Center.

  • A Pollinator Pathway at the PCEI Nature Center which will feature permanent outdoor art, wetland upgrades, and plantings to attract and support urban pollinators. The pathway will run parallel to Rodeo Drive as it enters the Nature Center.
  • Three permanent sculptural pieces along the Pollinator Pathway. These masterful works of art will display larger than life pollinators, in keeping with our campaign, “Open Spaces for Urban Pollinators”.
  • PCEI’s 2017 ArtWalk event where the sculptures will be “unveiled”. The event will include pollinator-themed artwork by local students.
  • Photography and artwork exhibit at Bloom Café and Arthouse. This exhibit will include photo documentation of the Pollinator Project and will also feature stunning photographs taken by Dave Scott of the Superbloom in Southern California, a pollinator’s dream!
