The seed was planted and the idea of Backyard Harvest began to sprout in 2006 when one gardener, Amy, grew more lettuce than her family could eat and didn’t want it to go to waste. The next year, that sprout started to grow with the guidance of the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute and increasing community support. On June 11, 2008, Backyard Harvest blossomed into a 501c(3).
Backyard Harvest invites you to celebrate 10 years of increasing access to fresh food on the Palouse and in the Lewis-Clark Valley with a birthday party at the PCEI Nature Center on Saturday, June 9th, 3pm-7pm.
The event is FREE and family-friendly with fun twists on traditional birthday games, cake, music, potluck, raffles, and no-host beer and wine. Feel free to bring a favorite dish to share if you wish.
