Each fall, the PCEI education staff joins Jefferson Elementary’s 4th grade students for an exciting hike at Kamiak Butte County Park. Students and teachers meet up with staff at the park where they are split into three smaller hiking groups. Through songs, games, and discussions, and exploration, students apply recently acquired earth science knowledge to their local natural world by finding its place in the geological story of Kamiak Butte’s creation.
Our teachers had this to say about our field trip:
“Very educational re: types of rocks, what causes erosion, types of trees etc., and weathering. All staff members were very knowledgeable and could relate to students well.” –Jefferson Elementary Teacher
“The best part of the program was the hands-on aspect of the lessons. Anytime you give kids something in their hands to manipulate it brings it all to life.” –Jefferson Elementary Teacher
“Keep coming back!” –Jefferson Elementary Teacher
